How we optimise your online shop: an example!

Improving existing online shops is one of our core competencies. In this blog post we show how, together with our customer badshop.de, we have optimised their online presence over recent years.

Badshop.de was one of the first retailers to take on the challenge of selling bathroom furniture, shower enclosures and other sanitary products on the internet. In 2012 the company came to us and together we developed a new online shop that to this day ranks among the leading shops for sanitary products and bathroom furniture in Germany.

Before/After

Design and front end

Above you see the “old” shop in the front-end view, which was considered current in 2012. Even then, the management of our partner badshop.de recognised that the shop had to move with the times, both in design and in user experience. Below you see the current state of affairs: modern and tidy.

Before/After

Shop system

In the shop-system area we switched from XT Commerce to Magento. The advantages are:

  • With Magento we are always up to date technically.
  • Magento is more flexible, more scalable and delivers more performance.
  • An individual interface between Magento and BüroWARE can be set up.
  • Various navigation and filter functions can be implemented much better in Magento.

Before/After

Category overview

For many website visitors the first glance goes in this direction: “What do they have?”. The category overview is therefore a key element of orientation in every shop. This example makes it clear: the new category overview is much tidier and quicker to find.

Before/After

Product view

Especially with major purchases such as bathroom furniture, it is important that the online shop shows exactly what you get. What the colour looks like, which installation options there are, or which connections. That is why we stored precise views for every configuration option in the new Badshop. The customer immediately sees what the finished product will look like.

Before/After

Shopping cart

The new shopping cart is not only clearer and more stylish, it also meets the current legal requirements. Actual shipping costs and available payment methods are shown clearly. To minimise abandoned purchases, it is also important to make the checkout as straightforward and understandable as possible. This applies in particular to mobile devices.

We admit that we are particularly proud of how the badshop.de online shop has developed. And it is a good example of how, working together with our customers, we keep e-commerce presences fit for the future and therefore competitive.

Takeaway

What now?

The redesign of badshop.de shows our ability to successfully improve existing e-commerce platforms. By migrating from XT Commerce to Magento and comprehensively revising the design, navigation and shopping cart, we created a modern and competitive online shop together with the customer. This example illustrates our expertise in optimising e-commerce websites and our ability to meet customer needs.
