The buzzword of the hour: “Shopable Images”. Instagram and Google are about to make shopping even easier for customers. Soon we will, as a matter of course, see a link to the respective products right on the image, both on Google and on Instagram. These features had actually been foreseeable for a long time; now they are “finally” a reality.
Instagram announced two new updates a few days ago that are meant to make shopping on the platform even easier:
Google calls them “images with direct purchase options”, the so-called Shopable Image Ads. So another way to advertise with Google on selected websites. These are not the typical banner or pop-up ads, but offers that are shown by clicking the content itself. With this, Google says it is following the trend that more and more users look online for inspiration through images.
Perfect timing, of course, to add this feature shortly before the Christmas trade gets underway!
