The average conversion rate in e-commerce is about 3%. At some online shops it is lower, at others it is higher. We are fortunate that it is higher for all of our long-standing customers. We have done a lot to achieve that. And we have summed up exactly these learnings in 3 tips:
If a customer comes into your shop and likes a product, you should not put obstacles in their way to completing the purchase. That means the checkout process should be as simple as possible. It sounds logical, but in many online shops it is a massive problem.
An, for example, unnecessarily long checkout process makes potential customers impatient and, in the worst case, abandon the purchase. So try to keep the checkout
process as short as possible and only ask for the most important information.
Many customers also abandon the order because they are forced to create a profile. You should therefore always offer potential customers the option to complete the purchase as a guest as well. Even if similar information has to be collected in order to deliver the order, to many customers it feels like a better alternative.
And the most important point at the end: offer the customer as many payment methods as possible. Nothing is worse than a purchase abandoned just before completion because the customer does not have a PayPal account.
Written reviews are not the only thing that raises the conversion rate. Embedded Instagram posts from happy customers also have a positive effect on the customer’s shopping experience.
This social proof builds trust and shows the customer that your online shop is reliable.
Do not use standard product descriptions. Otherwise you can hardly stand out from the competition. So try to shine with unique product descriptions you have written yourself. Even better if, at the same time, you breathe a little “life” into your products by creating a story around your product.
The keyword here is clear: storytelling.
Your customers want to be proud of the purchase and to have found something special. If the products stand out from the crowd, you can achieve exactly that and increase sales.
If you follow these tips and are ready to keep optimising your online shop, you can increase your conversion rate enormously. We will help you put them into practice. Just get in touch with us.
