For a long time, the end of Magento 1 was reported again and again. But now the end of support is set: June 2020. Magento is giving shop operators one more period of time to switch to Magento 2. Anyone running a shop based on Magento 1.9 or an even older version can now prepare for the supply of security patches to end in June 2020.
According to Magento itself, for versions 1.13 and 1.14 there will still be updates that fix bugs, in addition to security updates, until June 2020. This applies to both editions: if security vulnerabilities are discovered after the end of support, there will no longer be any way to close them.
There are already 30,000 Magento 2 online shops live, and more than 8,000 more are added each quarter (Source: Magento). So it is slowly time to take care of the step from Magento 1 to Magento 2. Because in the crush shortly before closing time, otherwise only mistakes happen. So: we are ready 😉
Here is another list of all deadlines depending on the Magento version.
